Aggie Smith Flowers

Aggie Smith Flowers age 73 of 2000 Fieldcrest Rd, Wilson passed away Monday, July 30, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Essie and Alice Barnes Smith.

Aggie attended Wilson County Public Schools where she graduated from Darden High School in 1956. She received her Bachelor of science Degree in Elementary Education form Livingstone College in 1960. Her professional career of thirty years was with the Wilson County Schools where she touched the lives of many students, parents, and fellow educators.

Aggie was a faithful and lifelong member of St. John AME Zion Church in Wilson, north Carolina where she served on the trustee board, missionary society, home missions and class leader. She was an active and dedicated member of Beta Omega Chapter of Tau Gamma Delta Sorority, Inc.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Herman Flowers, Sr.; her daughter, Alicia Flowers Braswell; a sister, Barbara Smith; and her brother, Eddie Smith.

Funeral service celebrating her life will be held Saturday at 1 pm at St. John AME Zion Church 119 N. Pender St, Wilson. The Rev. Dr. Michael Bell will offficiate. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Precious memories are forever cherished by her sons, Herman Flowers, Jr. (Luchrisha) of Leonardtown, MD and Therman Flowers (Kendral) of Wake Forest, NC; here grandchildren, Bria, Jasmine, Brandon and Cameron; four sisters-in-law, Mae Flowers of Durham, NC, Bessie Flowers of Wadesboro, NC, Glover Smith of Carrollton, VA and Elvertus Flowers of Delaware, DE; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6:30 pm to 8 pm at Carrons Funeral Home 325 East Nash St, Wilson. They will receive friends at other times at the residence and will assemlbe there one hour prior to service in preparation for the funeral procession.
