Clara Lee Reid Strickland age 72 of 1400 Shirleydale Dr, Apt. 108 Richmond, VA formerly of Stantonsburg, NC passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2014. Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 1 pm at Bethel AME Church, Stantonsburg, NC. Pastor Mary Jo Atkinson will deliver the eulogy, and the Rev. Dr. Lester Fisher will preside. Interment will follow in St. Delight Cemetery Walstonburg, NC.
Left to cherish loving memories are her daughters, Gertis E. Strickland and Gloria J. Strickland Octave of Richmond, VA, Clara G. Strickland of Goldsboro, NC and Angela M. Strickland of Gulfport, MS; her son, Ornie J. Strickland of Woodinville, WA; three sisters, Vivian Alston Cook of Pine Bluff, NC, Cleo Hill of Aberdeen, NC and Gwendolyn Thompson of New York; three brothers, Thomas Alston, Jr. of Baltimore, MD, Rochester Reid of Snow Hill, NC and Joseph Lee Chapman of New Bern, NC; twelve grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one aunt, Lillian Alston Weaver; one uncle, Lona "Spank" Alston, Sr.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held Friday from 3 pm to 6 pm at Carrons Funeral Home. The family will assemble at Carrons Funeral Home on Saturday one hour prior to service in preparation for the funeral procession.
