Dorothy Mae Barnes

Dorothy Mae Barnes age 64 of Plainfield, NJ formerly of Wilson passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012. A celebration of her life will be held Thursday at 12 pm at Barnes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church 1004 Railroad St, Wilson. Minister Yasin Cobb will officiate. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Dorothy was the daughter of the late Edward and Nora Mae Williams Barnes. She attended the Wilson County Public Schools where she graduated from Frederick Douglas High School in 1966. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her sweet, caring and gentle spirit will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Precious memories are cherished by her daughters, Taminecca Barnes and Nekeuta Hines of Plainfield, NJ and Shennetta Jackson of Elizabeth, NJ;her granddaughters, Tiera Barnes and Dreona Barnes of Plainfield, NJ and Elise Jackson of Elizabeth, NJ; her fiance, Thomas Eagle of Plainfield, NJ; two sisters, Ethel Barnes Sherrod of Wilson, NC and Louise Barnes Jenkins of Newport News, VA; her brother, Edward Barnes (Hazel) of Suffolk, VA; three nieces, Pamela Barnes of Wilson, NC, Latonya Barnes of Raleigh, NC and Tangerae Barnes of Newport News, VA; six nephews, Tyrone Cobb (Angela), Terry Cobb, Minister Yasin Cobb (Jakki), Antwan Cobb all of Newport News, VA, Edward Barnes of Honolulu, HI and Chaka Cobb of Rocky Mt, NC; a host of great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held Wednesday from 1 pm to 7 pm at Carrons Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the residence of her sister, Ethel Ruth Sherrod, 1600 Kent Dr, Apt. 8, Wilson, NC and will assemble there one hour prior to service in preparation for the funeral procession.
