Mrs. Earline Cox Artis, age 58, of 367 Lane Road, Stantonsburg was called to eternal rest on Thursday, November 15, 2018. She was preceded in death by two sons, Antwan Cox and James Cox. Funeral service will be held Monday, November 19, 2018 at 12 noon at Tabernacle Temple of Jesus Christ, 1601 Lane Street Ext., Wilson. The Rev. George Ward will be the eulogist, and Pastor Rosemary Artis Thompson will preside. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
She leaves her loving memories to her husband, Richard Dean Artis of the home; one son, Allen Cox of Wilson, NC; one stepdaughter, Gennetta Nelson (Adrienne) of Knightdale, NC; five grandchildren, Jakayla Cox, Jamilyah Cox both of the home, Zia Shackleford, Khloe Nelson and Tyrell Austin; four sisters, Doris Harper of Newark, NJ, Gladys Lucas (Ezell) of Hackensack, NJ, Vernell Ward of Wilson, NC and Gloria Bynum (Curtis) of Stantonsburg, NC; five brothers, Marion Artis (Lena) of Newark, NJ, Albert Cox (Joanne) of Union, NJ, James Cox (Mayrose) of Saratoga, NC, Donnie Cox (Betty) of Stantonsburg, NC and Jimmie Cox (Christy) of Wilson, NC; seven aunts, Marjorie Taylor of Snow Hill, NC, Eunice Holmes of Stantonsburg, NC, Mattie King of Los Angeles, CA, Martha Artis of Seminole, AL, Barbara Canty (Tom) of Goldsboro, NC; Clara Reid of Black Creek, NC and Eartha Wooten of Dudley, NC; a special niece who was reared as a sister, Wangela Jones (Kent); a special nephew who was reared as a brother, Reginald Cox; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including her best friend, Shirley Atkinson.
A viewing will be held Sunday from 3 pm to 6 pm at Carrons Funeral Home, 325 East Nash St., Wilson. The family will receive friends on Monday from 11 am to 12 noon at Tabernacle Temple of Jesus Christ. They will receive friends at other times at the residence and will assemble there at 10 am on Monday in preparation for the funeral procession.
