On Tuesday, December 13, 2011, Eileen Galloway Stevenson was called home to eternal rest. Eileen was born April 20, 1923 in Rural Retreat,VA to the late Theodore Anderson and Carrie Lena Bentley Galloway.
She received her education in the Johnson City Schools in Tennessee. After migrating to Wilson, NC, she met and married the late Lemuel Revere Stevenson who preceded her in death. She was employed for many years with Export Tobacco Company as a clerk.
Eileen was a dedicated member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in Wilson, North Carolina She was also a soldier for many other organizations including the SALT Council, OIC of Wilson, the Hope Station, Guardian Ad Litem and a volunteer at the voting polls.
Her memory lingers in the heart of her daughter, Vanessa Stevenson Winstead (Elijah) of Wilson, NC; her granddaughters, Jesheka A. Winstead of Kenly, NC, Ashli N. West (Kenneth) and Ebony S. Winstead of Wilson, NC; a very special goddaughter whom she helped to rear, Stephanie Lancaster; a special great godson, Jahme'ire Lancaster; two great granddaughters, Aykiara Demya Wilkins and Kaylei Laniya West;one great grandson, Jakareon Elijah Winstead; two nieces, Johnie Maxine Stevenson and Cecelia Maria Stevenson of Detroit, MI; one nephew, William Anthony Stevenson of Detroit, MI; several great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held Friday from 3 pm to 6 pm at Carrons Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 2530 Barrington Dr, Wilson and will assemble there one hour prior to service in preparation for the funeral procession.
