Elder Carolyn Diggs Smith was called home to her eternal rest on Tuesday at the UNC Hospital Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Funeral service celebrating her life will be held Sunday at 2:30 pm at L.N. Forbes Original Free Will Baptist Tabernacle 1800 Lane St, Wilson. Bishop Willie Thomas will be the eulogist, and Elder Mary Jo Atkinson will preside. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemtery.
A viewing will be held Saturday from 2 pm to5 pm at Carrons Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7 pm to 8 pm on Saturday at St. Luke Free Will Baptist Church, Stanonsburg. They will receive friends other times at the residence, 705 Hemphill Dr, Stantonsburg and will assemble there one hour prior to service in preparation for the funeral procession.
