Evangelist Marie Hilliard Parker of Wilson transitioned from labor to reward on Dec. 29, 2015.
For many years she was employed at Pinkey’s Washerette and was known by some as the “Washerette Lady.” For more than 72 years, Marie remained a faithful member of Simon Grove Holy Church in Wilson.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory two sons, Father Glenn D. Parker, C.Ss.R of New Smyrna, Florida, and David Cherry (Gina), of Fairfax, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Monique Moody of Staten Island, New York, Elder Rodney L. Parker, of Owings Mills, Maryland, Sharon B. Smith (Ronald), of Killeen, Texas, Alisha B. McNeil (Tim), and Willie Monte Barnes III, all of Wilson, Michael David Cherry, of Charlotte, and BreAnna Cherry, of Fairfax, Virginia; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Homegoing service will be held noon Saturday at L.N. Forbes Original Free Will Baptist Tabernacle, 1800 Lane St. Ext., Wilson. Bishop Herbert Williams Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow in Hamilton Burial Garden.
A viewing will be held from 2:30 - 5:30 p.m. Friday at Carrons Funeral Home, 325 E. Nash St., Wilson. The family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 p.m. Friday at Simon Grove Holy Church, 4334 N.C. 42 E., Wilson. They will receive friends at other times at 308 Spaulding St., Wilson, and will assemble there at 11 a.m. Saturday in preparation for the funeral procession.
