On Tuesday, November 27, 2012, God in His infinite wisdom and power called George Herman McGhee home to eternal rest. George resided at 312 Tarboro St, Wilson, North Carolina.
He was born in Oxford, North Carolina to Robert and Janie Bell Allen McGhee.
Left to remember George with love and thankfulness is his wife, loretta Barnes McGhee of the home; his sons, Keith McGhee of Newark, NJ, James Cox (Catina) of Woodbridge, VA and Desmond Cox of Wilson, NC; four sisters, Eva Davis of Baltimore, MD, Ida Chavis of Oxford, NC, Lucy Chavis of Washington, DC and Barbara Wallace (Freddie) of Wilson, NC; four brothers, James Thomas McGhee (Vicey) of Midway, GA, Robert McGhee (Caroline) and Samuel "Lucky" McGhee (Garnetta) of Newark, NJ and Cornell McGhee of Washington, DC; four grandchildren, Marcus McGhee (Tanisha), Latice McGhee, Rakim Cox and Demetrius Cox; one great grandchild, Dori Jaira Cox; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 pm at Faith Temple Church 402 Minchew St, Wilson, NC. Dr. Ernestine McGee will officiate and Bishop Willie Thomas will preside. Interment will follow in Hamilton Burial Garden.
A viewing will be held Saturday from 3 pm to 8:30 pm at Carrons Funeral Home with the family receiving friends there from 7pmto 8 pm. They will receive friends at other times at the residence and will assemble there one hour prior to service in preparation for the funeral procession.
