On Monday, July 30, 2012 God in His infinite wisdom called Gino Christopher Woodard home to eternal rest. Funeral service celebrating his life will be held Sunday at 2 pm at L.N. Forbes Original Free Will Baptist Tabernacle 1800 Lane St Ext, Wilson, North Carolina. The Rev. Wayne Woodard will officiate, and Bishop Lynwood E. Batts will preside. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery Veterans Section.
Gino attended Wilson County Public Schools where he graduated from James B. Hunt High School in 1979. In March, 1980 Gino enlisted with the United States Army where he served our country faithfully. Gino was a hard worker and held various jobs. His employment career included Wilson Memorial hospital, Wilson County Schools, Heritage Retirement Center and Wilson Chapel Apartments.
Having a great love for Christ, Gino joined Vaughn's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Rev. Johnny Sherrod. He enjoyed singing in the Junior Choir and playing the keyboard for the Ladies Chorus. He continued his ministry as a musician for Wilson Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and many other churches for several years. He will dearly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors are his daughters, Krishona W. McCoy of Wilson, NC and Davita W. Donson (Joel) of Greenville, NC; his sisters, Kathy Coley, Shanette Watson (Larry Sr.) and Bhupendra Hutcherson (Sylvester) all of Wilson, NC; his brothers, Harvey Woodard (Marshalle) and Rev. Wayne Woodard (Joyce) of Wilson, NC; one special granddaughter, Nia Iyana McCoy of Wilson; an aunt, coretha Lattimer of Fayetteville, NC; two uncles, Horace Bryant, Sr. of Sacramento, CA and Willie Woodard of Wilson, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held Saturday from from 2 pm to 5:30 pm at Carrons Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 pm to 8 pm at Wilson Chapel Church 513 East Barnes St, Wilson. They will receive friends at other times at 2908-A buckingham Dr, Wilson and will assemble there one hour prior to service in preparation for the funeral procession.
