Herman Leon Barnes

Funeral service for Mr. Herman Leon Barnes age 67 of 6606 Sweet Gum Court, Sims, NC who died Thursday, Aug 9, at Wilson Medical Center will be held Thursday at 1 pm at St. Rose Holiness Church 5252 St. Rose Church Rd, Sims. Pastor Laura Williams will officiate. Private interment will be held at a later date.

Herman was the son of the late Moses Dillion and Rev. Mary L. Barnes. He was preceded in deatah by his wife, Judy Coley Barnes and his son, Jonathan Wade Barnes.

He was a loving and giving person who always put family first. A diligent worker, Herman was employed by Firestone as a cook and Flynn Christian Home until his health failed him. He will always be remembered in the hearts of those who loved him.

His memory lives on in the hearts of his daughters, Sharron Denise Coley of Sims, NC and Tammy Annette Bailey of Wilson, NC; his sons, Herman Barnes, Jr. of Brooklyn, NY and Ronnie Earl Coley of Newport News, VA; two sisters, Retha Mae Barnes and Belinda Ledwell (Charles) of Asheboro, NC; three brothers, Oliver Barnes, George Barnes both of Asheboro, NC and Johnnie Barnes of Wilson, NC; five grandchildren, Shannon Coley, Tiffany Coley, Adrian Coley, Jonte Bailey and Lavorius Barnes; two great grandchildren, Taniyah Davender and Nyquan Allen; two aunts, Edna Harrison of Maryland and Lillie Bullock of Wilson, NC; two uncles, Robert Barnes and Joseph Barnes (Gracie) of Wilson, NC; two sisters-in-law, Evangelist Geraldine Coleman of Sims, NC and Ruby Nell Dunn of Wilson, NC; two brothers-in-law, Jolly Coley of Wilson, NC and Samuel Coley of Sims, NC; a host of nieces, including a special niece, Hope Jones, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held Wednesday from 3 pm to 6 pm at Carrons Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the residence at all times and will assemble there one hour prior to service in preparation for the funeral procession.
