Mr. Herman Nelson Dew, age 61, of 1800 East Trail Drive, Wilson was called to eternal rest on Tuesday, January 23, 2018. Herman was the son of Carrie Lee Dew. A service celebrating his life and legacy will be held 12 noon Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Barnes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1004 Railroad St, Wilson. Rev. Eric Barnes will deliver the eulogy, and Rev. Steven Kent will preside. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Left to remember Herman with love and thankfulness are his loving wife, Elteresa Best Dew of the home; one stepdaughter, Tiqwana Best of the home; two stepsons, Gary Best and Shannon McCrae both of Wilson; his brother, Stephen Lee Dew (Jacqueline) of Wilson; three aunts, Thelma Dew Smith of Wilson, Catherine Huggins (Eddie) of Rocky Mt. and Janice Bridgers of Durham; four uncles, Rev. Bobby Best (Jackie) of California, Harvester Best, Clifton Best and Rudolph Best (Dot) all of Wilson; his mother-in-law, Thelma Richardson of Wilson; his father-in-law, Lester Leroy Richardson of Black Creek; five grandchildren, one great grandchild, two very special cousins, Grady Smith (Carol) of Elm City and James Weaver (Shelia) of Madison, Al; four other special cousins, Victor Smith and Gary Smith both of Raleigh, Stacy Smith of Wilson and Monica Ham (Hugh) of Durham; a host of other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held Friday, February 2 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Carrons Funeral Home. The family is receiving friends at the residence and will assemble there at 11 am on Saturday in preparation for the funeral procession.
