Mr. James Hedrick Miller age 60 of 911 Meadow St, Wilson passed away Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012 at Wilson Medical Center. Funeral service will be held Friday at 11 am at St. Mary Church of Christ 7401 Stony Hill Church Rd, Bailey. Elder Laura Williams will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Church Cemetery.
James, the eldest son of the late James H. Fryer and Alice Mills was born in Washington, DC. He spent his formative years in Washington, DC where he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After his discharge from service, James began his employment history with independent contractors. Later he relocated to Wilson, North Carolina and became employed with the Safety Cab Company, Monroe Mufflers and Smithfield Packing Company.
James loved the Lord, his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Glenn. His presence will certainly be missed by all who loved him.
Left to cherish loving memories are his beloved wife, Marie Mills of the home; five sons, Anthony Pegues (Frances) of Middlesex, NC, Fredrick Pegues, Curtis Pegues both of Ft. Washington, MD, Darrick Pegues (Angie) of Marlowe Heights, MD and Rev. Bobby Pegues of Washington, DC; his sisters, Karen L. Whitehead and Julia A. Mills of Washington, DC; his brothers, George G. Mills (Bettie) and Curtis W. Mills of Marlowe Heights, MD; seventeen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, six sisters-in-law, Eloise Jones (Willie) of Camp Springs, MD, Ann Barnes (James) of Baltimore, MD, Emma Lee Thompson and Hattie Mae Barnes of Wilson, NC, Phyllis Eatmon (Arthur) and Metta Faye Graham of Sims, NC; a special stepson, Thomas Perry, Jr.;a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held Thursday from 3 pm to 7 pm at Carrons Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at all times at the residence and will assemble there one hour prior to service in preparation for the funeral procession.
