On Wednesday, May 30, 2012 God in His infinite wisdom and unfailing power called Jerome Mercer home to eternal rest. Jerome was born in Wilson, North Carolina to Tommie Lee Mercer and Lossie B. Weaver.
Although many of his childhood years were spent in Durham, North Carolina, Jerome spent most of his adult life in He attended the Durham County Public Schools.
Believing in a supreme being, Jerome became a member of Tuskeegee Holiness Church in Wilson, North Carolina where he served faithfully as a trustee and a member of the Male Choir.
An avid carpenter and a lover of fishing, he was a joy to everyone who knew him. He will dearly be missed.
Jerome's memory continues to linger in the hearts of his wife, Mary Ann Battle of the home; his son, Jerome Mercer, Jr. of Ft. Drum, NY; his mother, Lossie B. Weaver of Wilson, NC; two sisters, Olivia Deansand Beverly Lucas (Tim) of Wilson, NC; five brothers, James Weaver, Curtis Mercer and Orster Mercer (Helen) of Wilson, NC, Henry Mercer of Rocky Mt, NC and Willie Mercerof Kinston, NC; one granddaughter, Kaylie Mercer of Ft. Drum, NY; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held Saturday from 2 pm to 8:30 pm at Carrons Funeral Home with the family receiving friends there from 7 pm to 8 pm. They will receive friends at othertimes at 610 Best St, Wilson and will assemble there one hour prior to service in preparation for the funeral procession.
