Funeral service for Ms. Joan Tyson Wiggins age 57 of 403 Warren St, Wilson who died Tuesday at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville will be held Saturday at 1 pm at Wilson Chapel Free Will Baptist Church 513 East Barnes St, Wilson. The Rev. James A. Simms, Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Joan was the daughter of Mattie Bullock Tytson and the late Jesse Tyson. She attended the Wilson County Public Schools where she graduated from Ralph L. Fike High School in 1973. Upon receiving her high school dipolma, Joan attened Wilcon Technical Community College where she received her certification as a nursing assistant.
Having a firm believe in the love of Christ, Joan joined the Olive Chapel Church in Sharpsburg, NC where she enjoyed the fellowship. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otha James Wiggins.
Precious memories will forever be cherished by her daughters, Kimberley Nicole Wiggins of Charlotte, NC and Kasey Joy Wiggins of Atlanta, GA; her son, Kevin Wiggins of Raleigh, NC; her mother, Mattie Bullock Tyson of Wilson, NC; seven sisters, Thelma Winder (Enos) of Washington, DC, Jackie Simms (James) of Bladenburg, MD, Sylvia Tyson, Shelby Tyson Pegues (Willard) and Brenda Tyson all of Wilson, NC, Tracy Morris (Kenneth) of Clinton, MD and Tammy McClain of Knightdale, NC; five brothers, Jesse Tyson (Daphine),Tommy Lee Barnes and Scott Tyson all of Wilson, NC, David Tyson of Spring Valley, NY and Larry Tyson (Tina) of Newark, NJ;two grandchildren, Nevaeh Tnes Wiggins of Raleigh, NC and Kameron Arzavious Wiggins of Wilson, NC; two sisters-in-law, Sophronia Anderson of Dudley, NC and Van Reeves of Goldsboro, NC; two brothers-in-law, William Wiggins (Phyllis) and Clyde Wiggins (Barbara) both of New London, CT; two aunts, one uncle, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held Friday from 4 pm to 7 pm at Carrons Funeral Home. The family will assemble at the residence of her sister, Sylvia 2614-B Byerly Dr, Wilson one hour prior to service in preparation for the funeral procession.
