Funeral service for Joe Lawrence "Pap" Ward age 68 of 1205-A Woodrow St, Wilson who died Sunday at Wilson Medical Center will be held Saturday at 1 pm at Feel Free church Ministries 3543 Hwy 301 North, Wilson. Rev. Phillip Anthony Cox will officiate. Interment will follow in Mary Grove Church Cemetery, Lucama.
Pap was the son of the late Lawrence and Pauline Kent Ward. One son, Kenneth Kerney; two brothers, Demetric Ward and Larry Thomas and two sisters, Vicky Ward and Dorothy Ward preceded him in death.
Left to cherish his memory are four daughters, Bettye Jean Gaddis (Ronnie) of Wendell, NC, Priscilla Willoughby (Rodney) of Greenville, NC, Sherri McGrier of Washington, DC and Cindy Ward Middleton (Vernon) of Hope Mills, NC; one son, Bobby Cox (Genice) of Wilson; one stepdaughter, Victoria Archer (Kevin) of Woodbridge, VA; seven sisters, Bettye Garner and Bobbie J. Ward both of Washington, DC, Annie Ward, Joan Farmer, Dianne Davis and Chekela Farmer all of Wilson and Theretha Ward of Greensboro, NC; two brothers, Elbert Ward and Robert Ward (Sebrina) both of Wilson; fifteen grandchildren, one great grandchild; four aunts, Addie Booth of Meredithville, VA, Ella Deans of Wilson, Lena Kent of Wilson County, NC and Naomia Kent of Nashville, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including a special friend, Charlie :Chuck" Joyner of Wilson.
A viewing will be held Friday from 5 pm to 8:30 pm at Carrons Funeral Home with the family receivng friends there from 7 pm to 8 pm. They will receive friends at all other times at 2104 Silver Leaf Rd, Wilaon and will assemble there one hour prior to service in preparation for the funeral procession.
