Funeral service for John Carl McCowan age 69 of 732 29th St. Newport News, VA who died Sunday will be held Saturday at 2 pm at Carrons Funeral Home. Bishop Malcolm Johnson will officiate. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Precious memories are cherished by his wife, Geraldine Kearney McCowan of the home; two daughters, Krystal Strickland of Norfolk, VA and Starmaine Kearney of Wilson, NC; one sister, Bessie McCowan of Wilson, NC; one brother, Herbert McCowan of Wilson, NC; one granddaughter, ZyMiacle Kearney of Wilson, NC; his mother-in-law, Geneva Kearney of Wilson, NC; his sister-in-law, Romaine Briddell of Berlin, MD; a special nephew, Anthony McCowan of Hampton, VA; a special cousin, Diane Woodard of Wilson, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held Friday from 4 pm to 6 pm at Carrons Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the residence of his sister, 1115 Woodard Ave, Wilson. They will assemble there one hour prior to service in preparation for the funeral procession.
