Mr. John Robert Thompson, Jr. affectionately known as "J.J." by family and friends passed away on Friday, April 13, 2012 at the Wayne Memorial Hospital Goldsboro, North Carolina.
J.J. was born in Wilson, North Carolina on March 15, 1989 to Angela Carol Williams and John Robert Thompson. He was employed with Greene County Public Schools where he was a football coach at Greene Central High School.
Believing in the love of God, J.J. joined the St. Delight Missionary Baptist Church in Walstonburg.
Loving memories are forever cherished by his mother, Angela Williams (George) of the home; his father, John Robert Thompson (Keisha) of South Plainfield, NJ; two daughters, Jaliyah Thompson of Roanoke, VA and Joniya Stanley of Kinston, NC; his sisters, LaToya Thompson (Bubba) of the home and Keyona Thompson of South Plainfield, NJ; three special friends, Kecia Page of Roanoke, VA, Latrice Queen of Washington, DC and Lanee Stanley of Kinston, NC; fifteen aunts, Beulah Williams, Yvonne Barnes, Mary Fleming, Ester Wingate (Lancey), Corine Howard (Jeff), Joyce Woodard (Rev. Wayne) and Dorothy Coe (Lander) all of Wilson, NC,Laura Williams of Elm City, NC Pamela Williams and Edna Montague of Stantonsburg, NC, Emma Sauls (Willie) of Goldsboro, NC, Ida Sauls (Joe) of Greenville, NC, Kriskyl Williams of Hookerton, NC, Geraldine Taylor of Snow Hill, NC and Doris Bynum (Eddie) of Raleigh, NC; nine uncles, Charles Williams and Leroy Williams, Jr. (Renee) of Wilson, NC, Johnny Williams (Teresa) of Elm City, NC, Rudolph Thompson (Denise) and Gene Thompson (Blondie)of Stantonsburg, NC, Ernest Thompson (Debbie) of Snow Hill, NC, Rudy Hagans (Sylvia) of Maryland, Tommy Gay of Virgina and Albert Thompson (Sylvia) of New Jersey; his special brothers, Roscoe Thompson, John Flowers, Justin Williams, Reggie Edwards, Kendrick Best, Brandon Sutton, Phil McCrimmon, Leon Speight, Sam Barnes and Matthew Jackson; a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Saturday at 12 pm at Greene Central High School 140 School Rd, Snow Hill, NC. The Rev. Mal Williams will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Delight Cemetery, Walstonburg, NC.
A viewing will be held Saturday from 11 am to 12 pm at Greene Central High School. The family will receive friends at the residence, 153 Lane Rd Stantonsburg, North Carolina and will assemble there one hour prior to service in preparation for the funeral procession.
