Joseph "Joe" Cox

Joseph "Joe" Cox age 71 of 4502 Pinehurst Dr, Wilson passed away on Friday, April 15, 2011 at the Wilson Medical Center.

Joe was the son of the late Chester and Mary Woodard Cox. Realizing a need for a Supreme Being in his life Joe joined Faith Temple Holiness Church where he served faithfully as an ordained deacon. Having a great passion of singing for the Lord, Joe was the lead singer for The Mighty Cheribims. His memory will forever live in the heart of all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Angela Hester Cox of the home; three daughters, Kiki Batista of New Jersey, India Cox of the home and Tonya Pierce (William) of Wilson, NC; two sons, Patrick Cox and Darryn Cox both of Wilson, NC; six grandchildren, Evan Batista and Ethan Batista both of New Jersey, Ashley Cox of Nashville, NC, Chad Chin and Christopher Chin both of Wilson, NC; four sisters-in-law, Sheila Lucas McClain (Robert) and Bernice Hester both of Brooklyn, NY, Pauline Hester and Juanita Cox both of Wilson, NC; a host of nieces, nephews,other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 pm at Faith Temple Church 402 Minchew St, Wilson. Dr. Ernestine McGee will officiate. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. A viewing will be held Friday from 3 pm to 8:30 pm at Carrons Funeral Home with the family receiving friends there from 7 pm to 8 pm. They will receive friends at other times at the residence and will assemble there one hour prior to service in preparation for the funeral procession.
