Funeral service for Joseph Hilliard age 56 of 2303 Shreve St. SW, Wilson who died Saturday will be held Thursday at 1 pm at L.N. Forbes Original Free Will Baptist Tabernacle 1800 Lane St Ext, Wilson. Elder James Neal will officiate. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Joe as he was affectionately known by family and friends was the son of Thelma Bynum Hilliard and the late Joseph Hilliard, Sr. He was employed with Wilson County Schools for over thirty years.
Left to remember him with love are his wife, Sheila S. Hilliard of the home; his children, Tonya R. Hilliard of Southport, NC, Joseph Hilliard, III (Alisha) of Charlotte, NC, Quashawn Anderson of Maryland, Terrell Hilliard, Andre Hilliard and Brandon Atkinson all of Wilson, NC; one stepson, Jules Solomon of Durham, NC; his mother, Thelma Bynum Hilliard of Wilson, NC; six sisters, Gayle A. Taylor of Philadelphia, PA, Cynthia Hilliard-Woodard (Roscoe), Stacy Hilliard-King (Alton), Paula Hilliard-Small (Tim), Wanda Hilliard-Hinton (Vincent) and Marquitta Cannady all of Wilson, NC; two brothers, Robert Cook(Tonya) and Terry B. Hilliard both of Wilson, NC; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held Wednesday from 4 pm to 7 pm at Carrons Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at all times at the residence and will assemble there one hour prior to service in preparation for the funeral procession.
