Ms. Lossie Davis, age 82, of 508 Hemphill Street, Stantonsburg, NC entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 with her family by her side. A celebration of her life will be held 2pm Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Brown Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 1507 Hadley Street, Wilson. Pastor Douglas Sutton will deliver the eulogy and Bishop Willie Thomas will preside. Interment will follow in Hamilton Burial Garden.
Lossie, affectionately known by her family and friends as "Muh," is survived by her loving daughters and sons, Gwendolyn Newton (Donnie) and Cynthia Hinnant (Kenneth) both of Wilson, NC, Jeffrey Davis (Kellisha) of Rocky Mount, NC, Eric Lavoris Davis (Sherole) of Bowie, MD, Marquette Russell (Christopher) of Garner, NC, Wilbert Mercer (Anna) of Phoenix, AZ and Jamie Lamont Davis (Gwen) of Severn, MD; two sisters, Bessie Mitchell of Washington, DC and Sylvia Lenyear of Wilson, NC; three brothers, Billy Barnes of Hyattsville, MD, Redmond Barnes and Harvey Barnes both of Washington, DC; ten grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including a special friend, Willie Mae Reid of Wilson, NC.
A viewing will be held Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 3 pm to 6 pm at Carrons Funeral Home. The family is receiving friends at the residence of her daughter, Cynthia, 207 Kenmore St, Wilson and will assemble there at 1 pm on Sunday in preparation for the funeral procession.
