Lugenus "Steve" Simms

Mr. Lugenus "Steve" Simms, age 87, of Lucama, North Carolina transitioned from his earthly journey to his heavenly reward on Friday, June 23, 2017.

A Celebration of his life and Legacy will be held 12 noon Saturday, July 1, 2017 at L. N. Forbes Original Free Will Baptist Tabernacle, 1800 Lane Street East, Wilson, NC. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm Friday, June 30, 2017 with the family receiving friends from 7 pm to 8 pm at First Missionary Baptist Church of Lucama, 6161 Lucama Road, Lucama, NC.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Louise Diggs Simms; one daughter, Chakela Medose Simms Butler (Rickey) of Matawan, NJ; three sons, Dexter Lugenus Simms (Patti) of Black Creek, NC, Darvis Reginald Simms and Pastor Jeffrey Antonio Simms (Laura) of Raleigh, NC; five grandchildren, Brittany Lenise Simms of Atlanta, GA, Gregory Lance Simms of Goldsboro, NC, Rikeya Noele Butler of Matawan, NJ, Jeffrey Micah Simms and Nicolaus Gerald Simms of Raleigh, NC; one brother, Jonah Simms (Selma) of Wilson, NC; two sisters, Melverna Hagans (Tommy) of Philadelphia, PA and Betty Hodges of East Orange, NJ; two brothers in law, Willie “Junnie” Kirkland and Robert Bailey; two sisters-in-law, Edna Simms and Arbor Fox; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
