Funeral service for Mary Lee Mercer Atkinson age 87 of 1306 Corbett Ave, Wilson who died Saturday, Mar. 19 at her residence will be held Saturday at 12 noon at Simon Grove Holiness Church 4334 Hwy. 42 East, Wilson. The Rev. Richard Mercer will officiate. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
She was born in Edgecombe County, NC to the late Sam and Monia Farmer Atkinson.
Loving memories of her life and legacy are cherished by her nine daughters, Bernice Atkinson of the home, Jean Harris, Earnestine Best (George), Gladys Atkinson, Johnny Faye Beamon and Bertie Smith all of Wilson, NC, Brenda Edwards of Norfolk, VA, Berdie May and Katie Moore both of Farmville, NC; five grandchildren whom she reared, Brandon Atkinson of the home,Ali "Swoop" Atkinson, George Harris and Terrance Faison all of Wilson, NC and Danielle Evans of Norfolk, VA; three great grandchildren, Derrick Atkinson and Zyhreyah Parker both of Wilson, NC and Amirrah Mathew of Norfolk, VA; one Godson, Willie Barnes of Wilson, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held Friday from 3 pm to 7 pm at Carrons Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the residence and will assemble there one hour prior to service in preparation for the funeral procession.
