Pastor Samantha Renea Finch Hooker, age 52, of 3311 Boyette Drive, Apt. 3H, Wilson transitioned from labor to reward on Friday, December 11, 2020. A celebration of her life will be held 11 am Saturday, December 19, 2020 at L.N. Forbes Original Free Will Baptist Tabernacle, 1800 L.N. Forbes Street, Wilson, North Carolina. Pastor Anthony Harris will deliver the eulogy, and Rev. George Ward will preside. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Pastor Hooker leaves to cherish loving and lasting memories her husband, Joseph Ray Hooker, Sr. of the home; three daughters, Mecole LaShay Finch of San Diego, CA, LaShawn Peterson of Wilson, NC, and Raven Samone Peterson of Snow Hill, NC; three stepchildren, Joseph Ray Hooker, Jr. of Lucama, NC, Joanna Hooker of Lucama, NC, and Michelle Hooker (Trevaille) of New Jersey; two granddaughters, Juliana Tayborn of Wilson, NC and Brittany Bryant of Dudley, NC; one great granddaughter, Za’Niya Bryant of Dudley, NC; two grandsons, Zavyer Eatmon and Jy’Quaill Brown both of Lucama, NC; four sisters, Angela Worsley of Wendell, NC, Latondra Twitty of Wilson, NC, Sylvia Davis of Wake Forest, NC and Heddy Holder of Zebulon, NC; five aunts, Ernestine Finch, Vivie Lee Thomas, Joyce Ann Finch, Inez Finch all of Wilson, NC and Eula Finch of Greenville, NC; three uncles, Willie Lee Finch (Nancy), Larry Finch (Teresa) of Wilson, NC and Robert Finch (Mechelle) of Bailey, NC; four sisters-in-law, Ruby Kornegy (Don) of Goldsboro, NC, Diane Bozeland (Michael), Laura Blue both of Lucama, NC, and Maggie Chestnut (Roger) of Wilson, NC; four brothers-in-law, Robert Hooker of Newark, NJ, Bobby Blue (Avria) of Wilson, NC, David Hooker (Tomekil) of Rocky Mount, NC, and Paul Blue (Alexandria) of Raleigh, NC; her special godchildren, Anzhany Finch, Jasmine Artis, Yusef Brown, Semika Finch, Lakevia Neal, and Lakeisha Collins; her godparents, Evangelist Betty Morgan, Elder Nathaniel & Catherine Roberson, Deacon Donald and Mother Katie Taft, Albert and Sandra Hawkins, Bishop Joseph and Pastor Annie Perry; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
A public viewing will be held Friday, December 18, 2020 from 4 pm to 8:30 pm at Carrons Funeral Home, 726 South Tarboro Street, Wilson. An inspirational wake will also be held Friday from 6 pm to 8 pm in the Robert M. King, Sr. Memorial Chapel. The family is receiving friends at the residence and will assemble there at 10 am on Saturday in preparation for the funeral procession.
