Stanley Thompson affectionately known to family and friends as "Stan" was born to Johnny and Elizabeth Shaw Thompson on September 2, 1950 in New York, New York. On January 25, 2013, God called him home to his eternal rest.
Stan spent his formative years in New York, and later joined the United States Army where he served our country faithfully. He was employed at Alliance One in Wilson, North Carolina where he was a forklift operator. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Precious memories are cherished by his wife, Charlena Johnson Thompson of the home; his stepdaughter, Shieda Johnson; his stepson, Rahzel Forbes; his siblings, Donald Shaw of Bronx, NY, Ailene Thompson of Far Rickaway, NY, Debra Thompson and Giselle Thompson of Brooklyn, NY, Wayde Thompson of Queens, NY, Mari Eidson of Selma, NC and Darryl Thompson of Long Island, NY; his mother-in-law, Ruby Johnson of Farmville, NC; two sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Service celebrating his life will be held Saturday at 2 pm at Carrons Funeral Home. Dr. Leecie Edwards will officiate. Private interment will be held at a later date.
A viewing will be held Friday from 3 pm to 6 pm at Carrons Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 2563 Wesley Church Rd, Farmville, NC. They will assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 pm in preparation for the service.
