On Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, God called Ms. Thelma Elizabeth Pickett Applewhite age 75 home to eternal rest.
Thelma resided at 613 Stephenson St, Wilson. She was the daughter of the late William and Dora Jean Jordan Pickett. Her formative years were spent in Pender County, NC and Wilson County, NC.
Thelma's employment career began at Firestone Tire And Rubber Plant where she worked for many years until her retirement. Later she began work at Something Different as a cook until her health began to fail her.
Thelma believed in a Supreme Being and joined New Destiny Church Ministries where she was a faithful member. She will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Loving memories are cherished by her daughters, Joyce Allen, Mary Barnes (Robert) and Lakeisha Applewhite all of Wilson, NC; her sons, Larry Applewhite, James Applewhite and Jesse Pickett all of Wilson, NC; three sisters, Carolyn Inman of Jacksonville, NC, Delores Pickett and Dorothy Lewis of Wilson, NC; three brothers, William Pickett and Jimmy Bailey of Wilson, NC and Saul White of Myrtle Beach, SC; eight grandchildren, Crawford (Angela), Tyrone (Tarsha), Bernard (Denise), Waddell (Nichole), Shamika, Gonnette and Travan all of Wilson, NC and Aaron of Tampa, FL; seventeen great grandchildren, one daughter-in-law, B.K. Applewhite of Winston-Salem, NC; a special daughter, Sarah Puckett of Wilson, NC; special loved ones, Carlton campbell, Betty isom, Joseph anderson, Melissa and June, and Marie Batts all of Wilson, NC and Dru and Gwendolyn of Tampa, FL; a host of nieces, nepheww, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 pm at Barnes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church 1004 Railroad St, Wilson, NC. Pastor Beverly Hamm will officiate. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
A viewing will be held Friday from 3 pm to 6 pm at Carrons Funeral Home 325 East Nash St, Wilson. The family will receive friends at the residence at all times and will assemble there one hour prior to service in preparation for the funeral procession.
