Funeral service for Mr. Vanderbilt "June Bug" Williams age 63 of 5334 Akron Rd, Wilson who died Thursday at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville, NC
will be held Sunday at 1:30 pm at Evening Light Holiness Church 208 S. Pender St, Wilson. Bishop Oscar Pender will be the eulogist, and Bishop Katie Farmer will preside. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
June Bug was born in Wilson, North Carolina to the late Fred and Flossie Mae Sowers Williams, Sr. He was a faithful member of Evening Light Holiness Church. A concrete finisher by trade, he was employed with S.T. Wooten and Kingsmill Homes.
In addition to his parents preceding him in death were his sisters, Katie Mae Forte, AnniePearl Dawson, Mary Rachel Best and Letha Louise Williams; his brothers, Fred Williams, Jr., Willie Lee Williams and Joseph Williams. His memory will linger in the hearts of those who loved him.
Suvivors are his wife, Gwendolyn Battle Williams of the home; two daughters, Geugenia Pittman and Shinon Williams of Wilson, NC; his stepdaughters, Yoshito Ruffin of Raleigh, NC, Angel Holloway and Shanequia Holloway of Wilson, NC; three sisters, Gloria Jean Batts, Carolyn Dianne Williams and Geneva Williams all of Wilson, NC; two brothers, Lorenzo Williams of Lillington, NC and Davis Williams of Wilson, NC; one Godson, Jevonnie Cherrie of Wilson, NC; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, five step grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held Saturday from 4 pm to 6 pm at Carrons Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 pm to 8 pm at Evening Light Church. They will receive friends at other times at the residence and will assemble there one hour prior to service in preparation for the funeral procession.
