Vernill Lucas age 51 of 5032 Drakemoore Rd, Wilson passed away Monday at the Wilson Medical Center. Funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 pm at L.N. Forbes Oringinal Free Will Baptist Tabernacle 1800 Lane St Ext, Wilson. Bishop Thomas Lucas will officiate. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemtery Veterans Section.
Vernill served our country faithfully in The United States Army and later retired. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ruby Lee Smith Lucas; one sister, Cynthia Lucas and two brothers, Jerry Lucas and Harold Lucas.
Left to cherish precious memories are one daughter, Shankua Victoria Lucas of Colorado Springs, CO; his son, Antonio Ruffin of Seattle, WA; two sisters, Doris Jean Sutton (Ed) and Lynn McNeil (Chris) both of Wilson, NC; six brothers, Bishop Thomas Lucas (Sherry), Vincent Lucas, Bruce Lucas, William Best (Tina), Donnell King and Lorenzo Murray all of Wilson, NC; his finacee', Georgia Grant of Wilson, NC; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held Saturday from 4 pm to 7 pm at Carrons Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Ed Sutton 5116 Kennedy Rd, Wilson and will assemble there one hour prior to service in preparation for the funeral procession.
